Who It's For
Most stoves in this size class need fuel every day, which is fine until a busy week gets in the way. You need a mid-size stove that keeps going while you are not paying attention. The Forge & Flame PP70 is for a medium home where the main living area needs reliable heat and the owner wants to fill it every other day, not daily. A short-run stove asks for your time; this one gives it back.
What Makes It Special
Its 70-pound hopper can last up to two days between fills, and at 88.5% it turns more of each bag into heat than any other stove in this pellet line.
It heats up to 2,000 square feet. An automatic igniter starts the fire and a variable-speed fan pushes the warmth into the room. Outside combustion air is included, and with it the stove is approved for mobile homes.
You run the whole thing from a single dial.
Possible Downsides
- It needs household power for the igniter and fan.
- There is no hopper extension listed for this model; for a larger fuel load, look at the biggest stove in this line.
- It comes in black only.
If you want a mid-size pellet stove you only have to think about every couple of days, the Forge & Flame PP70 is the right decision. Midweek, the house is warm and the stove has not asked you for a thing.
It comes complete with a black door and the outside-air kit, with no add-ons to choose.

Frequently Asked Questions
How much space will the Forge & Flame PP70 pellet stove heat?
Plan on 1,000–2,000 sq ft, depending on your climate zone, layout, and insulation. It's sized for a medium home where the main living area needs steady heat, and its 88.5% efficiency rating is the highest in this pellet line.
How long does a full hopper last in the PP70?
The 70 lb hopper runs about 34–48 hours on a full load, so you can fill it every other day instead of daily. No hopper extension is listed for this model, so if you want a bigger fuel load, look at the largest stove in the line.
How does the single dial on the PP70 work?
The dial has OFF, LO, HI, and comfort settings 1 through 10. On a numbered setting, the stove shuts itself down once the room reaches your comfort level and restarts automatically when it cools, while LO and HI run continuously regardless of room temperature. A 300-watt auto-igniter lights each fire.
Can the PP70 go in a mobile home?
Yes. It's approved for mobile homes when it isn't in a sleeping room and the included outside air kit is installed and kept clear. The manual also requires grounding it to the home's frame with #8 copper wire, listed double-wall connector pipe, and bolting it to the floor through holes in the cast legs.
What size vent pipe does the PP70 use?
It takes 3-inch or 4-inch type L or PL pellet pipe, and you'll need the 4-inch size if the flue is taller than 15 feet or you live above 3,000 feet. Horizontal runs top out at 48 inches without added vertical pipe, and the manual recommends at least 5 feet of vertical venting.
Will the PP70 run during a power outage?
No. It needs 110-volt household power for the igniter, feed, and fans, and it hasn't been tested with third-party battery backups. If you plan to run it on a generator, the manual recommends a steady-state generator for the best performance.
How close to the wall can the PP70 sit, and what floor protection does it need?
The manual lists 9 inches from a side wall to the stove and 3 inches from the back wall. You'll also need a non-combustible hearth pad under it that extends at least 2 inches past the sides and back and 6 inches in front in the US.
What comes with the PP70, and what does the warranty cover?
It comes complete in black with the outside air kit, a cleaning tool, and a power cord, with no add-ons to choose, though venting is bought separately. The warranty covers parts only: electrical parts for 1 year and steel parts, excluding the fire pot, for 5 years.
