Who It's For
Heating a big, open house with wood means hauling logs twice a day, and the furnace still runs every time the fire dies down. You need a stove that holds enough fuel to keep going while you get on with your week. The Forge & Flame PP130 is for the family that wants pellet heat for most of the house with as few refills as possible. Choose a small-hopper stove and you are back at it every evening; choose this one and the bag of pellets lasts.
What Makes It Special
The headline is the 130-pound hopper. Add the optional extension and it holds 330 pounds, so in the cold months you can go days between fills instead of hours.
It heats up to 2,500 square feet, and an automatic igniter and a variable-speed fan come standard. The fan pushes warm air out into the room so the heat does not pool around the stove. Outside combustion air is included, which means the stove breathes from outdoors instead of pulling warm air out of your house.
The control is one dial. Turn it up when the house is cold, turn it down when it is mild.
Possible Downsides
- It runs on household power. The fan and igniter need electricity, so it stops if the power goes out.
- The big 330-pound setup needs the extension. It is a separate purchase.
- There Is One Finish: Black with a black door.
If you want pellet heat for the whole house without a daily refill routine, the Forge & Flame PP130 is the right decision. You fill it on Saturday and the house is still warm on Tuesday.
Add the hopper extension for 330 pounds of fuel capacity.

Frequently Asked Questions
How many square feet will the Forge & Flame PP130 heat?
The Forge & Flame PP130 is rated to heat 1,250–2,500 sq ft, enough for most of a larger, open house. The manual notes that real-world coverage depends on your climate zone, floor plan, insulation, and windows.
How long can the PP130 run before I have to add pellets?
The standard 130 lb hopper holds enough pellets for up to four days between fills, according to the PelPro brochure. Add the optional PPHE200 hopper extension, sold separately, and capacity grows to 330 lb, though it also raises the stove's height from 36-1/2 inches to 56-1/2 inches.
How does the single dial on the PP130 control the heat?
The dial has OFF, LO, HI, and comfort settings 1 through 10. On 1–10, the built-in thermostat shuts the stove down once the room reaches your level and restarts it when the room cools, while LO and HI run continuously no matter the room temperature.
Does the PP130 work without electricity?
No. The PP130's fan and igniter run on household power, so it stops during an outage, and the manual says it hasn't been tested with third-party battery backups. If you plan to back it up with a generator, the manual recommends a steady-state generator.
What vent pipe does the PP130 need?
It uses 3-inch or 4-inch Type L or PL pellet vent, either straight out a wall or up through the roof. Step up to 4-inch pipe if the flue is taller than 15 feet, you're above 3,000 feet elevation, or the run needs more than two 90° elbows, and keep horizontal runs without any vertical rise to 48 inches.
Can the PP130 go in an alcove or close to a wall?
Yes. The PP130 fits an alcove at least 52 inches tall and 42-1/2 inches wide, up to 25-3/4 inches deep, as long as the stove front is flush with or past the opening. On a flat wall with vertical venting it needs only 3 inches from the back wall to the pipe and 9 inches from a side wall, on a non-combustible hearth pad.
Is the PP130 approved for mobile homes, and is outside air included?
Yes to both. An outside air kit comes with the PP130, and it must be installed in a mobile or manufactured home, where the stove is approved as long as it isn't in a sleeping room. The manual also requires grounding it to the home's frame with #8 copper wire.
How efficient is the PP130, and is it EPA certified?
The PP130 has an 87.5% efficiency rating and is EPA certified at 0.53 grams per hour, meeting the 2020 particulate emission standard. Its PelPro warranty covers steel parts, excluding the fire pot, for 5 years and electrical parts for 1 year, parts only.
The PelPro Story
