Who It's For
Most pellet stoves need feeding every day, and that gets old fast in a long winter. Refilling should not run your life. You need a stove that holds a lot of fuel and keeps heating without attention. If you want low-fuss pellet heat for a large space, the Forge & Flame PP150 is built for that. Choose it and the pellet bags come out far less often.
What Makes It Special
The standard hopper holds 150 lb of pellets, and the optional extension takes it to 350 lb. The maker rates it for up to four days between refills.
It heats up to 2,500 square feet, with a fan to move the warmth around, and a certified 87.5% efficiency. Control is a plain dial: turn it up, turn it down, no screens or menus. A large ash area means less cleaning.
Possible Downsides
- The control is a dial; there is no thermostat or remote listed for it.
- The hopper extension is sold separately.
If you want pellet heat with the fewest refills, the Forge & Flame PP150 is the right decision. You fill it on the weekend and the house stays warm all week.
Add the PelPro hopper extension to raise the capacity to 350 lb.

Frequently Asked Questions
How much space can the Forge & Flame PP150 heat?
The PP150 heats about 1,250–2,500 sq ft, with up to 49,200 BTU per hour of input. It's EPA certified at 0.53 grams per hour with 87.5% certified efficiency, and a 265 CFM convection blower comes included to move the heat around.
How often will I need to fill the PP150's hopper?
The standard hopper holds 150 lb of pellets, which the maker rates for up to four days between fills. If that's not enough, the optional PPHE200 hopper extension, sold separately, raises capacity to 350 lb.
How does the dial control on the PP150 work?
One dial runs it: OFF, LO, settings 1 through 10, and HI. On 1–10, a built-in sensor shuts the stove down once the room reaches your comfort level and restarts it when the room cools. It isn't designed for a remote or a wall thermostat, and a small trim dial fine-tunes the air-to-fuel ratio.
Will the PP150 run during a power outage?
No. The PP150 needs 110-volt power for its auto-igniter, feed motor, and blowers, and it hasn't been tested with third-party battery backups. The manual recommends a steady-state generator and at least 60 inches of vertical pipe on through-the-wall installs to help keep smoke out during an outage.
What kind of venting does the PP150 use?
It vents through 3-inch or 4-inch L or PL pellet vent pipe, either horizontally through an exterior wall or vertically through the roof, which the manual calls the safest and preferred route. An outside air kit comes in the box and is recommended for every installation.
How close to the wall can the PP150 go, and will it fit in an alcove?
Installed straight back against a wall, it needs just 3 inches from the back wall and 9 inches from a side wall. Alcoves work if they're at least 52 inches tall and 42-1/2 inches wide, no more than 25-3/4 inches deep, and the stove front sits flush or forward. The floor protector extends 6 inches past the glass and both sides of the door.
Can I put the PP150 in a manufactured or mobile home?
Yes, it's approved for mobile homes as long as it isn't in a sleeping room. The included outside air kit must be installed, the stove must be grounded to the frame with #8 copper wire and bolted to the floor through its cast legs, and only listed double-wall connector pipe can be used.
What cleaning does the PP150 need?
Scrape out the fire pot and clear the firebox weekly or as needed, more than once a day if your pellets are high in ash. Vacuum the convection blower and hopper monthly, and once a year clean the exhaust blower, termination cap, and vent pipe. The large ash area means less frequent cleaning overall.
