Who It's For
Large homes in cold climates can outrun most stoves. Heat should keep up on the worst night of the year. You need a stove with deep reserves that still runs itself. If you are heating a big house or a long, cold winter, the Forge & Flame Pathfinder P68, powered by Harman technology, is the top of the line. Choose it and the furnace becomes the backup.
What Makes It Special
Harman rates it to heat 1,500 to 3,900 square feet, the most of the Pathfinder stoves; in most homes, expect 1,700–3,400 sq ft, depending on climate and layout.
It lights itself and uses a room sensor to hold your temperature. The 76 lb hopper grows to 136 lb with the extension, the door is cast iron, and the mirrored glass keeps a clean face. Leaf or Modern trim kits take slate or stainless tiles.
Possible Downsides
- Tiles need a trim kit.
- The hopper extension is extra.
- For smaller spaces, the Pathfinder P61 or P43 is a better fit.
If you need one pellet stove to carry a large home, the Forge & Flame Pathfinder P68 is the right decision. The coldest week of the year passes with the whole house warm.
Choose Modern or Leaf trim kits with slate or stainless tiles, an air grille trim, a 22 5/8-inch hopper extension, a ceramic log, heat shields, or a cast iron hearth pad.

Frequently Asked Questions
How much space will the Forge & Flame Pathfinder P68 heat?
In most homes, expect it to heat 1,700–3,400 sq ft, depending on climate and layout. Harman rates it at 1,500 to 3,900 square feet, the most of any Pathfinder stove, with a tested efficiency of 85% LHV, or 79.5% HHV.
How many pellets does the P68 hold?
The standard hopper holds 76 lb, and the optional 22 5/8-inch hopper extension adds 60 lb for a total of 136 lb. That's the largest fuel load in the Pathfinder line, and it matters on a stove that can feed up to 7.8 lb of pellets an hour at full output.
How does the P68 hold the room temperature?
In Room Temp mode, the room sensor calls for heat and the stove lights itself, starts on high for about 7 to 10 minutes, then settles to your chosen burn rate and shuts off once the room is warm. You can also run it in Constant Burn mode on a 1-to-7 scale.
What venting does the Pathfinder P68 use?
It takes a 3-inch pellet vent. The manual's preferred setups include a vertical section 3 to 5 feet high, which helps create natural draft if the power fails. The stove can sit 2 inches from the wall with the preferred through-wall method, though 4 inches gives you room to remove the rear panel.
What happens if the power goes out while the P68 is running?
The combustion blower stops, so the P68 stops heating and exhaust can seep into the room. The manual recommends a backup for outage-prone areas: the tested TrippLite INTERNET750U UPS gives a safe, blower-only shutdown, while an approved inverter/charger on a 12-volt deep-cycle battery can run the stove for up to eight hours.
How much clearance and floor protection does the P68 need?
Keep it 14 inches from a side wall with the optional side heat shields, or 20 inches without them, and 2 inches from the back wall. The floor protector must reach 6 inches past the front, sides, and rear, at least 25-3/16 by 27-3/4 inches, and it doesn't need an R-value.
Can I install the Pathfinder P68 in a mobile home?
Yes, it's listed for mobile homes if it isn't in a sleeping room. The manual requires bolting it to the floor, connecting an outside air kit, using listed Class PL connector pipe, and grounding it to the home's frame with at least 8 AWG copper wire.
What trim and accessories can I add to the P68?
Tile inlays need a trim kit, so start with the Leaf or Modern brushed stainless trim, then pick Deer or Trail Riders slate or a brushed stainless Deer plate. You can also add an air grille trim, black heat shields with or without a stainless inlay, a ceramic log, or a cast iron hearth pad.
The Harman Story
Harman was founded by Dane Harman, a welder, who built his first stove in 1978 and started Harman Stove and Welding beside his home in Halifax, Pennsylvania, in 1979. Its pellet stoves grew out of a patented coal stoker, with a bottom-feed burn pot that pushes ash out and a probe that feeds by temperature. Hearth & Home Technologies bought Harman in 2007, and since 2023 its stoves have been sold under the Forge & Flame name, “Powered by Harman Technology.”
