Who It's For

A stove that is too big for the space runs hot, or gets choked down until it smokes up the glass. You need a stove sized for the rooms you actually heat. If you have a cottage, a cabin, or a smaller home of up to 1,500 square feet and want a dependable wood stove that stands on its own, the Vista is the one. Oversize it and you spend the winter cracking windows instead of enjoying the fire.

What Makes It Special

The Vista is the smallest of the traditional steel stoves, built around a compact firebox that loads side to side. One lever sets the air, and a full load runs approx. 7–10 hours, so a fire built at bedtime leaves coals to relight in the morning.

It burns with no electricity at all, which matters when a winter storm takes the power out. An air-wash system keeps the glass clear, and an optional temperature-activated blower can push heat farther across the room when you want it.

Possible Downsides

If you want a wood stove sized for a smaller home that keeps working when the power does not, the Vista is the right decision. The cabin is warm when you wake up, and the stove is the first thing everyone gathers around.

The Vista stands on a pedestal or on legs, with an arched door in Metallic Black, Brushed Nickel, or Nickel and an optional blower.

The Pacific Energy Story

Pacific Energy Fireplace Products was founded in 1978 by Paul Erickson in Duncan, British Columbia. It's best known for steel and cast-iron wood stoves, many finished in porcelain enamel from its own plant, and it also builds wood fireplaces, gas fireplaces, and gas stoves. The same company makes Town & Country gas fireplaces, True North, and Elegant Electric. Sweden's NIBE group became the majority owner in 2022, and NIBE's 2023 annual report lists the company as wholly owned.
