Who It's For
In a big, open home, a small fireplace looks lost on the wall and barely dents the chill. You need a fire with the size to match the room and the output to heat the house. If you are building or remodeling a home of up to 3,000 square feet and want a wood fireplace framed right into the wall, the FP30 is the largest one in the line. It is finished with tile or stone like any built-in, so the wall around it is part of the project.
What Makes It Special
The FP30 has the biggest firebox of the built-in line and takes logs up to 20 inches, so you load less often and the fire holds longer between loads. Logs go in straight, front to back, over a cast iron ash lip.
Two temperature-activated blowers push heat into the room, and an optional powered heat distribution system can duct warm air to other rooms, each on its own switch. The large cast iron door and oversize glass give you a fire worth looking at.
Possible Downsides
- The Craftsman surround fits the arched version only. The contemporary FP30 takes its standard trim.
- Heat distribution to other rooms is an add-on. The powered kit is sold separately.
If you want a built-in wood fire with enough size and heat for a large home, the FP30 is the right decision. The great room gets a fire that fills the wall and warms the whole floor.
The FP30 comes in a contemporary face or the arched version, with an optional Craftsman surround for the arch and the optional powered heat distribution kit.

The Pacific Energy Story
Pacific Energy Fireplace Products was founded in 1978 by Paul Erickson in Duncan, British Columbia. It's best known for steel and cast-iron wood stoves, many finished in porcelain enamel from its own plant, and it also builds wood fireplaces, gas fireplaces, and gas stoves. The same company makes Town & Country gas fireplaces, True North, and Elegant Electric. Sweden's NIBE group became the majority owner in 2022, and NIBE's 2023 annual report lists the company as wholly owned.
