Who It's For
In a large home, a mid-size stove keeps one end of the house warm while the other end stays cool, and you are up in the night to reload it. You need a stove with the firebox to heat the whole place and hold a fire until morning. If your home runs up to 3,000 square feet and wood is your main heat, the Summit is the one. Go smaller and you trade a warm house for a lot of trips to the woodpile.
What Makes It Special
The Summit has the largest firebox of the traditional steel stoves and takes logs up to 20 inches. Bigger loads mean fewer of them, and a full load burns approx. 8–12 hours, so the coals are still alive when you get up.
Logs load straight in, front to back, one lever sets the burn, and it heats with no electricity at all. An optional temperature-activated blower moves heat farther through an open floor plan when you want it.
Possible Downsides
- It is built for spaces up to 3,000 square feet. For a single room or a smaller home, the Vista or Super is the better size.
- The blower is optional, not included. Without it, the stove heats by radiation alone.
- The ash disposal system is optional. It comes standard on the Summit Classic.
If you heat a large home with wood and want one stove to carry it through the night, the Summit is the right decision. Cold mornings start with a warm house and a bed of coals waiting for the next log.
The Summit stands on a pedestal or on legs, with an arched door in Metallic Black, Nickel, or Brushed Nickel and an optional blower.
