Who It's For
Most wood stoves sit low and look traditional, so you bend down to load them and the fire is below your line of sight from the couch. You need a stove with modern lines that is easy to load and easy to watch. If you heat a home or open space of up to 1,500 square feet and want a contemporary look, the Neo 1.6 is the one. Choose a traditional stove and you get the heat, but not the look or the view.
What Makes It Special
The Neo 1.6 has a tall profile that raises the firebox, so loading means less bending and the flames sit in your line of sight from across the room. Side panels come in painted steel, stainless steel, or porcelain enamel colors.
Inside, a built-in heat exchanger helps move heat into the room, and a full load burns approx. 7–10 hours. It burns with no electricity, the ash disposal system comes standard, and leveling legs keep it square on an uneven hearth.
Possible Downsides
- The blower is optional, not included. Without it, the stove relies on its heat exchanger and radiation.
- It is the smaller of the two Neo stoves. For up to 2,000 square feet in the same look, see the Neo 2.5.
If you want a contemporary wood stove that is easy to load and easy to watch, the Neo 1.6 is the right decision. The fire becomes part of the view from the couch, and the room stays warm all evening.
The Neo 1.6 takes side panels in Black Metallic, Stainless, or porcelain Red, Black, Ivory, Modern Desert, Midnight Blue, or Evergreen, plus an optional blower.

The Pacific Energy Story
Pacific Energy Fireplace Products was founded in 1978 by Paul Erickson in Duncan, British Columbia. It's best known for steel and cast-iron wood stoves, many finished in porcelain enamel from its own plant, and it also builds wood fireplaces, gas fireplaces, and gas stoves. The same company makes Town & Country gas fireplaces, True North, and Elegant Electric. Sweden's NIBE group became the majority owner in 2022, and NIBE's 2023 annual report lists the company as wholly owned.
