Who It's For
Not every fireplace belongs in a log cabin. When a room has gone clean and contemporary, a set of logs in the opening can look like it came from another house. You need an insert that heats like the others but looks like the room around it. The Kozy Heat Chaska 29 Glass sets the flames in crushed glass or crystals over black enamel panels. A log insert would heat the room just as well; this one looks like it was chosen for it.
What Makes It Special
Instead of logs, the flames rise from your choice of reflective crushed glass or glass crystals, with black enamel firebox panels behind them that pick up the color of the fire. A light kit under the media keeps the bed lit.
The fan and the remote are included, and the fan moves warm air out into a family room or a den.
It is approved for bedroom installs.
Possible Downsides
- Glass media is a separate, required purchase, along with the front and the shroud.
- It is the lower-output Chaska 29. For more heat with a log look, see the Chaska 29 log model.
If you want a gas insert that looks as current as the room around it, the Chaska 29 Glass is the right decision. The fireplace becomes the piece people ask about.
Choose reflective midnight or reflective copper crushed glass, or seabreeze, black, amber, or glacier crystals; add a beach accent kit; and pick a black, brushed stainless, antique copper overlay, black prairie, or vintage bronze arched mission front with a black or blank shroud and an optional low mantel kit.

Frequently Asked Questions
How much of my home can the Kozy Heat Chaska 29 Glass heat?
It's sized for roughly 650–1,300 sq ft. The manual rates it at 25,500 BTU/h maximum on both natural gas and propane, with minimums of 14,000 (natural gas) and 13,500 (propane). The brochure lists its EnerGuide P.4 efficiency at 60.8% on natural gas and 63.21% on propane. If heat output matters most, the same brochure rates the log version of the Chaska 29 at 30,500 BTU/h on natural gas.
Will the Chaska 29 Glass fit in my existing fireplace?
It needs an opening at least 19-1/4 inches high, 29-1/2 inches wide at the front, 18-7/8 inches wide at the back, and 15 inches deep. The fireplace has to be a wood-burning masonry or factory-built fireplace. Firebrick and fastened-in smoke shelves or baffles can be removed to reach the minimum, but the existing fireplace's sheet metal can't be cut.
What chimney liner and venting does the Chaska 29 Glass need?
It vents up the existing chimney through two 3-inch flexible liners, one for exhaust and one for outside combustion air, ending at an approved cap. Kozy Heat's #816 kit includes 36 feet of expandable 3-inch pipe and a round cap, and BDM, Amerivent, Metal Fab, Olympia Venting Supply, Selkirk, Simpson Dura-Vent, and ICC systems are also approved. The chimney must be 10 to 50 feet tall, at least 7 inches inside (factory-built) or 6 x 8 inches (masonry), and it can't serve any other appliance.
What do I need to order with the Chaska 29 Glass?
Plan on a screen front, a shroud, and glass media—the brochure lists the front and the media as required and says the shroud is required for installation. Media choices are 1/2-inch crushed glass in reflective midnight or reflective copper, or crystal kits in seabreeze, black, amber, or glacier, and a beach accent kit can go on top. Fronts include black, brushed stainless, or antique copper overlay rectangular, black prairie, and vintage bronze arched mission, while black enamel panels, an accent light, the fan, and the remote come standard.
Will the Chaska 29 Glass work during a power outage?
Yes, the burner can still light and run on its backup battery pack, which takes four AA batteries (not included). The fan and the accent light won't run on battery power, so heat comes off the insert without the fan moving it into the room. Normally it needs a 120-volt, 6-amp supply that's always on, with no switch on that circuit.
What can the Chaska 29 Glass remote control do?
The included Proflame 2 remote turns the fire on and off and adjusts the flame, the fan, and the accent light, each through six levels. It can also run as a room thermostat, including a smart mode that turns the flame down as the room reaches your set temperature. A Sit Proflame wall-mount transmitter is available if you'd like a control on the wall.
Can the Chaska 29 Glass run on propane?
Yes, but it's built for natural gas, so propane takes a certified conversion kit (LCK-CK29G-SPB in the parts list), installed before the light kit goes in. If you use the #208-series glass media, the manual says to pull back at least half of the media covering the burner ports on propane for proper flame appearance. The option list also includes a propane valve step motor, and propane input is the same 25,500 BTU/h maximum as natural gas.
How much clearance does the Chaska 29 Glass need for a mantel or TV above it?
A 9-inch-deep combustible mantel can start 16 inches above the top of the insert, and it can get 1 inch deeper for every added inch of height. With the CK29 low mantel kit, which works only with the rectangular or prairie screen front, a 6-inch mantel can start 11 inches above the top. Side walls need 6 inches, and the ceiling must be at least 55 inches above the fireplace enclosure floor. The manual doesn't give a separate TV rule, so plan any TV around these combustible clearances.
Can the Chaska 29 Glass go in a bedroom or a mobile home?
Yes to both. The manual says it may be installed in a bedroom, and in an aftermarket, permanently located manufactured home (USA only) or mobile home where local codes don't prohibit it. It still has to go into an existing wood-burning fireplace and chimney that meet the size requirements.
