Who It's For
Put a fireplace on the wall between two rooms and one side gets the fire while the other gets the back of it. In an open plan or a room-divider wall, that feels like half a fireplace. You need one fire both sides can see. The Kozy Heat Callaway See Thru is that fireplace, and with its optional outdoor kit, one of those sides can be the patio. A single-sided unit serves one room; this one serves two.
What Makes It Special
The same 50-inch linear fire is open to both rooms, with an inside-fit safety screen on each side, a top light, and a remote included.
An optional outdoor kit lets one face open onto a patio or porch, so the fire you watch from the living room is the same one you sit beside outside.
The flames rise from crushed glass or lava rock, with logs, birch, rock, or a beach kit as optional accents, and the burner turns down to a low glow. It is approved for bedroom installs.
Possible Downsides
- Burner media is a separate, required purchase.
- The fan is optional, not included.
- Indoor/outdoor use takes the outdoor kit, a separate purchase, plus a heat-management kit or a specially framed cavity.
If you want one fire that two spaces claim as their own, the Callaway See Thru is the right decision. The wall that used to divide the space becomes the reason everyone gathers on both sides of it.
Choose reflective midnight or reflective copper crushed glass or lava rock on the burner; crushed glass, lava rock, black sand, vermiculite, or black glass around the perimeter; traditional or birch logs, rock accents, or a beach accent kit; Chicago brick, ledgestone, or black glass panels; a vintage bronze mission, gallery, one-piece, or four-piece black surround; and an optional fan, outdoor kit, heat-management kit, and heat transfer kits.

Frequently Asked Questions
How much of my home can the Kozy Heat Callaway See Thru heat?
It's rated to warm about 900–1,800 sq ft. The burner runs up to 35,500 BTU/h on natural gas (35,000 on propane) and turns down to 18,500 BTU/h (18,000 on propane). Kozy Heat lists its EnerGuide P.4 efficiency at 72.52% on natural gas and 73.73% on propane.
Does the Callaway See Thru have a front and a back side?
Yes. Both sides show the same fire through glass, but one side is the access side, where the gas valve and control module sit and the glass comes off with spring latches; the other side's glass is fixed with flange nuts. Put the access side where a technician can reach it. The framed opening is 64-1/2 inches wide, 43-1/4 inches tall, and only 17 inches deep, and the enclosure needs to be at least 76 inches tall.
Can one side of the Callaway See Thru face a patio?
Yes, with the Callaway See-Through Outdoor Kit (#CWST-ODK), sold separately, which turns it into an indoor-outdoor window. That setup also requires either the #KZK-054 Komfort Zone Kit or a single-opening vented cavity, with the opening inside the house, and shelf-style framing isn't allowed. The manual notes that most of the heat goes to the indoor side, so it won't be a major heat source outdoors. Outdoor operation is approved from 40°F to 110°F.
How is the Callaway See Thru vented?
It's direct vent, built for 5-inch by 8-inch co-axial pipe, and it can be reduced to 4-inch by 6-5/8-inch pipe. Vertical runs go from 3 to 50 feet. Horizontal runs depend on how far the pipe rises first: up to 60 inches after a 12-inch rise, 12 feet after 24 inches, and 20 feet after 36 inches. The optional Kozy Power Vent (#KPV) handles horizontal terminations only, and an existing sound Class A or masonry chimney of at least 7-inch ID can be reused with a 4-inch flex liner.
How close can a mantel or TV be to the Callaway See Thru?
In a standard install, 3/4-inch trim can start 8 inches above the top finishing edge and a 6-inch-deep combustible mantel 11-1/2 inches above it, with no side clearance needed to an adjacent wall. A vented cavity or Komfort Zone Kit lowers the 6-inch mantel to 3 inches above the edge and lets combustible wall finish up to 1 inch thick go over the required non-combustible facing, but it needs 5 inches to an adjacent sidewall. The manual leaves the final TV location to the homeowner, so check your TV maker's heat limits.
Will the Callaway See Thru work during a power outage?
The burner will. It normally runs on 120-volt power, and a backup pack with four AA batteries (not included) keeps it lighting when the power's out. The optional fan and the top light don't work on battery backup.
Can the Callaway See Thru run on propane?
Yes. It ships for natural gas and converts with the propane conversion kit (#LCK-CW50-SPB), installed by a qualified installer. The manual says it's easier to convert before the fireplace is framed in, because converting later means pulling the control board. The order options also list a propane valve step motor.
What comes with the Callaway See Thru, and what has to be ordered?
The safety barrier screen, top light, and remote come with it. Burner media is a required separate purchase: reflective midnight or copper crushed glass, or lava rock. Logs, accent kits, panels, perimeter media, surrounds, and the fan kit are optional, and the fan kit includes a block-off plate if you'd rather send its warm air out one side only.
Can the Callaway See Thru go in a mobile home or a bedroom?
Yes to both, within local codes. The manual approves it for an aftermarket, permanently located manufactured home (USA only) or a mobile home where local codes don't prohibit it, and it says the fireplace may be installed in a bedroom. It must sit on a level surface that can support the fireplace and its venting.
