Who It's For
Big rooms with high ceilings and a lot of glass lose heat fast, and a normal fireplace runs flat out without catching up. You need a fireplace with serious output and a fire big enough to match the room. If you are heating a great room, a lodge-style living room, or an open main floor in a cold climate, the Kozy Heat Bellingham 52 is the one built for that. A mid-size unit will look right and run all evening; this one has heat to spare.
What Makes It Special
The Bellingham 52 has the highest heat output of any Kozy Heat fireplace, and the burner turns down far enough for a low, steady glow when the room is already warm.
More than 52 inches of landscape glass frames a traditional or birch log set. Two fans, a top light, an ember-bed light, an inside-fit safety screen, and a full-function remote all come standard.
An optional heat-management kit routes warm air out through grilles, which Kozy Heat says lets you hang a TV above the fireplace, and optional heat transfer kits carry warmth to another room.
Possible Downsides
- Firebox panels are a separate, required choice.
- At 65% (EnerGuide), it turns less of its gas into room heat than the smaller Kozy fireplaces; if efficiency comes first, look at the Bayport 41.
- It can be too much fire for an ordinary living room. For a smaller space, the Bellingham 38 has the same look.
If your biggest room has never felt warm enough, the Bellingham 52 is the right decision. The great room becomes the warmest room in the house instead of the coldest.
Choose traditional or birch logs; Chicago brick, herringbone, ledgestone, or black glass firebox panels; an exterior trim kit; and optional heat-management and heat transfer kits.

Frequently Asked Questions
How much of my home can the Kozy Heat Bellingham 52 heat?
The Bellingham 52 is sized for about 1,500–3,000 sq ft. The manual rates it at 59,500 Btu/h maximum input on natural gas or propane, turning down to 18,500 Btu/h on natural gas and 21,500 Btu/h on propane. The brochure lists its EnerGuide (P.4) efficiency at 65.20% on natural gas and 65.80% on propane. Actual coverage depends on your floor plan, ceiling height, insulation, and climate.
Will the Bellingham 52 work during a power outage?
Yes—the burner runs on a battery backup, but the fan and lights stop. It normally needs a 120-volt circuit that's always hot, and the control module holds four AA batteries (not included) for outages. On battery power the manual says it operates the burner only, so the fan, top light, and ember-bed light won't run until power is restored.
How is the Bellingham 52 vented?
It's a direct vent fireplace that uses 5" x 8" co-axial pipe, vented straight up (3 ft to 50 ft) or out through a wall with up to 25 ft of rise plus 25 ft of horizontal run. Short rises limit the horizontal run—for example, 36" of vertical pipe allows no more than 6 ft horizontally. The manual's 4" x 6-5/8" reducer setups are vertical terminations, and the optional Kozy Power Vent handles horizontal terminations. This model's manual doesn't include a conversion for running the vent through an existing chimney.
Can I run the Bellingham 52 on propane?
Yes, but it's manufactured for natural gas, so propane needs the #LCK-BH52-SPB propane conversion kit, sold separately. Kozy Heat's option list shows this as a propane valve step motor kit. Convert before framing if you can, because converting later means removing the control board. On propane the maximum input stays at 59,500 Btu/h, with a higher 21,500 Btu/h low setting.
Can I put a TV above the Bellingham 52, or move its heat elsewhere?
Yes, with planning. Kozy Heat's tests found TV surface temperatures stayed at or below 150°F when a 4-1/4" deep recess was built above the fireplace, though the manual makes TV placement the homeowner's responsibility. A vented cavity or optional Komfort Zone Kit reduces heat above the fireplace and allows combustible facing and lower mantel clearances. Up to two interior or exterior heat transfer kits can also move heat to another area of the home or directly outside.
What clearances and framing does the Bellingham 52 need?
The Bellingham 52 needs a minimum rough opening 65-5/8" wide, 50-1/2" high, and 28-3/4" deep, in an enclosure at least 88" tall. Clearance to combustibles is 0" at the stand-offs, 2" at the corners, and 36" in front. In a standard install, 3/4" mantel trim can start 8" above the top finishing edge and a 6" deep mantel at 11-1/2", and any mantel leg, combustible or not, needs 6" of clearance. The unit weighs 510 lbs, so plan a team lift and solid support.
What do I need to order with the Bellingham 52, and what's included?
You have to pick a firebox panel set—the manual says refractory or black glass panels are required to operate the fireplace. Choices are Chicago brick, herringbone, ledgestone, or black glass, with a 17-piece traditional or birchwood log set. A fan kit, a full-function remote, a top light, an ember-bed light, and a safety barrier screen are standard. The rectangle surround isn't offered on this size; a 4-piece exterior trim kit is the optional finishing piece.
What can the Bellingham 52 remote do?
The included Proflame 2 remote turns the fireplace on and off and doubles as a room thermostat. It has six flame heights, six fan speeds, six top-light levels, and a split-flow control for the secondary burner. Smart thermostat mode turns the flame down automatically as the room reaches your set point, and a wall-mount transmitter is available as an option.
Can the Bellingham 52 go in a bedroom or a mobile home?
Yes, within limits. The manual says it may be installed in a bedroom, though it also warns to plan around the large amount of heat it produces. It allows installation in an aftermarket, permanently located manufactured home (USA only) or mobile home where local codes don't prohibit it; no separate mobile-home kit is listed, so confirm local requirements with your installer.
