Who It's For
Most linear fireplaces are long and short, a thin ribbon of flame. That looks sleek, but on a big wall it can feel like a slot. You want the clean shape of a modern linear with a fire tall enough to feel like a fireplace. The Kozy Heat Nordik 48 TL gives you both. A standard linear gives you a stripe of flame; this one gives you a full-height log fire in a modern frame.
What Makes It Special
The glass is 20 inches tall, so a traditional or birch log set sits inside a wide, clean opening with room for the flames to stand up. It reads as modern from across the room and as a real fire up close.
The screen front, ember-bed light, top light, and remote come included. The heat reaches a large open main floor, and an optional heat-distribution kit can move warm air out through vents.
It is approved for bedroom installs.
Possible Downsides
- The fan is optional, not included.
- Logs and firebox panels are separate, required choices.
- It ships set up for natural gas. Running it on propane takes an add-on valve motor.
If you want a modern fireplace with a fire that still feels substantial, the Nordik 48 TL is the right decision. The wall reads like a piece of architecture, and the fire still feels like a fire.
Choose traditional or birch logs; black glass, black brick, Chicago brick, ledgestone, or herringbone firebox panels; an optional heat-distribution kit; and an optional fan.

Frequently Asked Questions
How much of my home can the Kozy Heat Nordik 48 TL heat?
The Nordik 48 TL is sized for about 1,300–2,550 sq ft, though your floor plan and insulation decide the real number. It's rated at 51,000 BTU/h maximum on both natural gas and propane, and it turns down to 34,000 BTU/h on natural gas or 40,000 BTU/h on propane. The brochure lists its AFUE at 71.62% on natural gas and 72.07% on propane.
How is the Nordik 48 TL vented?
It's a direct vent fireplace that uses 5 x 8 inch co-axial pipe, terminating either through the roof or out a wall. Vertical runs go from 3 feet to 50 feet, while a horizontal termination needs at least 18 inches of vertical pipe off the top before the elbow, and the longest combination is 25 feet up plus 25 feet across. Kozy Heat's #KPV power vent, sold separately, is approved for horizontal terminations. The manual also allows 4-inch flexible pipe inside an existing Class A or masonry chimney of at least 7 inches inside diameter, after the chimney is inspected.
Can the Nordik 48 TL run on propane?
Yes, but it ships set up for natural gas, and the conversion needs a stepper motor that's sold separately (listed as the Propane Valve Step Motor). The manual's cover says a conversion kit comes with the fireplace, while its light-kit section calls the kit sold separately, so confirm with your dealer what's in the box. It's easiest to convert before the fireplace goes into the framed opening and before the light kits and logs go in. On propane, the maximum stays at 51,000 BTU/h, but the low setting rises to 40,000 BTU/h from 34,000 on natural gas.
What do I need to order with the Nordik 48 TL, and what comes with it?
A log set is the one required choice: traditional or birch. The screen front, top light kit, ember bed light kit, and remote come with the fireplace. Firebox panels (black glass, black brick, Chicago brick, ledgestone, or herringbone), the rectangle surround, the fan kit, and the Komfort Zone heat-distribution kit are optional.
Will the Nordik 48 TL work during a power outage?
Yes. It normally runs on 120-volt power, but with four AA batteries (not included) in the backup holder, the burner and flame-height adjustment keep working during an outage. The optional fan and the accent lights won't run on battery power.
What can the Nordik 48 TL's remote do?
The included Proflame 2 remote handles on and off, six flame levels, and a room thermostat, plus a Smart mode that turns the flame down as the room reaches your set point. It also runs the optional fan through six speeds, dims the top light through six levels, and switches the ember bed light on and off. A wall-mount Proflame transmitter is available as an option.
Can I put a TV and a mantel above the Nordik 48 TL?
Yes, but plan for it. In a standard install, a 6-inch-deep combustible mantel starts 12-1/2 inches above the top finishing edge, while an 8-inch noncombustible mantel can sit flush at that edge. For a TV, Kozy Heat highly recommends the Komfort Zone Kit (#KZK-062), a front-plenum kit that lets a 6-inch mantel start right at the top finishing edge; the allowed TV recess is 4-1/4 inches deep. The manual leaves the TV's own temperature limits to the homeowner.
What framing and clearances does the Nordik 48 TL need?
It needs a tall enclosure: At least 84 inches from the base of the fireplace to the ceiling, for both standard and Komfort Zone installs. The unit is 57-1/2 inches wide, 46-1/8 inches tall, and 19-1/2 inches deep. The nailing flanges hold side framing 4 inches away, and the top stand-offs keep 10-7/8 inches to the header, a zone that has to be noncombustible material only. Clearances to combustibles are 0 inches at the stand-offs, 2-5/8 inches at the corners, and 36 inches in front.
Can the Nordik 48 TL go in a bedroom, a mobile home, or a covered outdoor space?
The manual says it may be installed in a bedroom. It's also approved for an aftermarket, permanently located manufactured home (USA only) or mobile home, where local codes don't prohibit it. Covered outdoor installs are allowed too, as long as the fireplace is protected from direct precipitation and operated between 40°F and 110°F.
