Who It's For

A contemporary room deserves a fire that matches it, and most inserts big enough to heat the house still come dressed in arches and scrollwork. You need modern looks and real heating capacity in the same insert. If your home is up to about 2,000 square feet and you want a flush, clean face with a generous window on the fire, the Neo 2.5 Insert is the one. Pick a traditional insert instead and you get the heat without the look you wanted.

What Makes It Special

The Neo 2.5 sits flush with the fireplace face behind a plain trim plate, so the fire is the only thing you notice. It is the larger of the two Neo inserts, with a bigger firebox and room for 18-inch logs.

A built-in heat exchanger and two temperature-activated, variable-speed blowers carry the heat into the room. A full load burns for approx. 8–12 hours, so the fire you build after dinner is still going strong when everyone heads to bed.

Possible Downsides

If you want a modern-looking insert that can heat most of the house, the Neo 2.5 Insert is the right decision. Guests notice the fire first, and nobody reaches for a sweater.

The Neo 2.5 Insert is finished with a front trim plate in Metallic Black or Stainless Steel and a regular or oversized backing plate.

The Pacific Energy Story

Pacific Energy Fireplace Products was founded in 1978 by Paul Erickson in Duncan, British Columbia. It's best known for steel and cast-iron wood stoves, many finished in porcelain enamel from its own plant, and it also builds wood fireplaces, gas fireplaces, and gas stoves. The same company makes Town & Country gas fireplaces, True North, and Elegant Electric. Sweden's NIBE group became the majority owner in 2022, and NIBE's 2023 annual report lists the company as wholly owned.
