Who It's For
Most wood inserts wear an arched door and a traditional surround, which can look out of place in a modern room. You need a wood insert that heats like a stove but looks like it belongs in a contemporary space. If you have a smaller fireplace, want clean lines, and need heat for up to 1,500 square feet, the Neo 1.6 Insert fits that brief. The alternative is a traditional insert that heats just as well and never quite matches the room.
What Makes It Special
The Neo 1.6 mounts flush with the fireplace face, framed by a simple trim plate in Metallic Black or Stainless Steel. There is no arch and no ornament, just a wide window on the fire.
Behind that face is a built-in heat exchanger and two temperature-activated, variable-speed blowers, so the heat moves out into the room instead of staying in the firebox. Logs load side to side, and a full load burns for approx. 7–10 hours.
Possible Downsides
- Contemporary trim only. For an arched, traditional door, look at the Vista insert.
- Takes logs up to 17 inches. For 18-inch logs in the same modern look, see the Neo 2.5 insert.
If you want wood heat from a smaller fireplace without a traditional look, the Neo 1.6 Insert is the right decision. The fireplace finally looks like part of the room—and it is the warmest spot in the house.
The Neo 1.6 Insert is finished with a front trim plate in Metallic Black or Stainless Steel and a regular or oversized Metallic Black backing plate.

The Pacific Energy Story
Pacific Energy Fireplace Products was founded in 1978 by Paul Erickson in Duncan, British Columbia. It's best known for steel and cast-iron wood stoves, many finished in porcelain enamel from its own plant, and it also builds wood fireplaces, gas fireplaces, and gas stoves. The same company makes Town & Country gas fireplaces, True North, and Elegant Electric. Sweden's NIBE group became the majority owner in 2022, and NIBE's 2023 annual report lists the company as wholly owned.
