Who It's For
Heating a large home with wood usually means a stove in the middle of the floor, or a fireplace that only warms the room it’s in. You need one fireplace that can carry the house. The RSF Opel2C Plus and Opel3C Plus are for the family that wants wood heat for 1,500 to 3,000 square feet from a built-in fireplace. Pick a smaller unit and the back bedrooms stay cold; pick this one and the fire becomes the heating system.
What Makes It Special
Inside is a 3.6 cubic foot catalytic firebox, large enough for overnight burns, lined with custom-molded refractory bricks reinforced with stainless steel pins. An air wash keeps the glass clean under normal burning. It meets the 2020 federal emission standard.
The two versions differ in the door. The Opel3C Plus has a single cast iron door, and the Opel2C Plus has double cast iron doors. Frame either one with black louvers, a classic cast iron grill, or a clean face that lets tile or stone run right up to the fireplace.
Connect it to a central heating system and the warmth can travel through your ductwork, or use gravity vents and a heat dump to move it into nearby rooms.
Possible Downsides
- A louver set or facing is required. Choose black louvers, the cast iron grill, or the clean face kit.
- The ash pan does not work with the clean face. Pick louvers or the grill if you want one.
- The clean face needs two gravity vent kits. It hides the louvers, so the air inlets and outlets move elsewhere.
If you want one wood fireplace to heat the whole house, the RSF Opel2C Plus or Opel3C Plus is the right decision. The living room, the kitchen, and the back bedroom all feel like the same warm house.
Choose the single or double door, then black louvers, a cast iron grill, or a clean face, plus decorative door trim, an ash pan, gravity vents, and central heating parts.

The RSF Story
RSF Woodburning Fireplaces is the wood fireplace brand of Industrial Chimney Company (ICC), a privately owned manufacturer in Saint-Jérôme, Quebec. The letters stand for Renewable Solid Fuel. RSF started as RSF Energy in northern British Columbia, and ICC bought the line and moved it to Quebec. Every current RSF burns wood, and all but the see-through Focus ST are certified to the EPA's 2020 wood heater standard.
