Who It's For

A big house needs a big fire, and big wood fireplaces tend to look heavy and old-fashioned. You need serious heat in a fireplace that suits a modern room. The RSF Opel Keystone is for the homeowner heating 1,500 to 3,000 square feet who wants the face of the fireplace to match the design, not the other way around. A smaller fireplace keeps one room warm; this one is sized for the house.

What Makes It Special

The name comes from the face. The keystone facing is interchangeable: run it as a semi-clean look with stone or tile close to the door, or add the keystone louver for a full faceplate.

Inside is a catalytic firebox of 3.6 cubic feet that takes logs up to 18 inches, large enough for overnight burns. It meets the 2020 federal emission standard.

It can heat beyond the room, too. Gravity vents, a heat dump, a central heating blower, and zone controls carry warmth into other rooms or your ductwork, and the firebox can be drilled out to accept an aftermarket gas log set.

Possible Downsides

If you need a fireplace that heats the whole house and fits a modern room, the RSF Opel Keystone is the right decision. The furnace stays quiet while the fire keeps every room on the main floor warm.

Add the keystone louver or gravity vents, then choose from central heating and zone controls, a heat dump, an ash pan, a digital temperature display, and a rock retainer kit.

The RSF Story

RSF Woodburning Fireplaces is the wood fireplace brand of Industrial Chimney Company (ICC), a privately owned manufacturer in Saint-Jérôme, Quebec. The letters stand for Renewable Solid Fuel. RSF started as RSF Energy in northern British Columbia, and ICC bought the line and moved it to Quebec. Every current RSF burns wood, and all but the see-through Focus ST are certified to the EPA's 2020 wood heater standard.
