Who It's For
A wood stove heats beautifully, but it takes a corner of the room and a hearth pad to do it. In a smaller home, that floor space is hard to give up. You need real wood heat that lives in the wall. The RSF Focus 3600 is for the remodel or new build where you want a working fire, not a decorative one, in a compact footprint. Choose a stove and you plan the room around it; choose this and the fire is part of the wall.
What Makes It Special
The firebox holds about as much wood as an average stove, 2.04 cubic feet, inside a contemporary built-in fireplace. It takes logs up to 18 inches and heats up to 1,500 square feet—a living room, a kitchen, and the hallway between them.
You decide where the warmth goes. Gravity vent kits let hot air rise out of the fireplace and into the room above or next door with no fan at all, an internal blower pushes it across the room, and a heat dump sends extra heat to another space when the fire runs hot.
It finishes the way you want, too. Pick straight trim for heavier masonry or frame trim for tile and cement board.
Possible Downsides
- A trim is required and sold separately. Every install needs either the straight or the frame trim.
- The blower and gravity vents are add-ons. Out of the box it heats by radiation.
- It is a wood fire. You load it, tend it, and clean out the ash.
If you want a stove’s worth of heat without giving up the floor, the RSF Focus 3600 is the right decision. On the first cold night, the whole main floor is warm and the room still has its corners.
Choose straight or frame trim, then add gravity vent kits, a contemporary vent grill, an internal blower, a heat dump, or a firescreen.

The RSF Story
RSF Woodburning Fireplaces is the wood fireplace brand of Industrial Chimney Company (ICC), a privately owned manufacturer in Saint-Jérôme, Quebec. The letters stand for Renewable Solid Fuel. RSF started as RSF Energy in northern British Columbia, and ICC bought the line and moved it to Quebec. Every current RSF burns wood, and all but the see-through Focus ST are certified to the EPA's 2020 wood heater standard.
