Who It's For
You love the look of a traditional stove, but hauling wood and cleaning ashes is not how you want to spend winter evenings. You need the character of cast iron with heat that comes on at the push of a button. If you want to warm a small to medium room, roughly 600 to 1,200 square feet, with a freestanding gas stove, the Trenton is the one. Choose a wood stove instead and you take on the woodpile along with the warmth.
What Makes It Special
The Trenton is heavy cast iron that holds heat and gives it back evenly from the top and sides. Decorative doors open on a big window of full flames over a log set, set against black porcelain panels.
The remote control has a thermostat, so the stove adjusts its flame on its own to hold the room where you set it, down to about half its full output. Two blowers come standard to move the heat across the room, and a built-in micro-mesh safety screen guards the hot glass while staying nearly invisible.
Possible Downsides
- Pacific Energy sizes it for small to medium rooms. For a large open space, a larger heater is the better fit.
- Propane needs a conversion kit. The kit is sold separately.
If you want the look of a cast iron stove with the ease of gas, the Trenton is the right decision. Evenings start with a button press, and the room is warm before the kettle boils.
The Trenton comes in Metallic Black cast iron, Majolica Brown porcelain, or Antique White porcelain, with a propane conversion kit available.

The Pacific Energy Story
Pacific Energy Fireplace Products was founded in 1978 by Paul Erickson in Duncan, British Columbia. It's best known for steel and cast-iron wood stoves, many finished in porcelain enamel from its own plant, and it also builds wood fireplaces, gas fireplaces, and gas stoves. The same company makes Town & Country gas fireplaces, True North, and Elegant Electric. Sweden's NIBE group became the majority owner in 2022, and NIBE's 2023 annual report lists the company as wholly owned.
