Who It's For
Corners, room dividers, and bay walls are the hardest places to put a fireplace, because most units only face one way. You want a long modern fire that works on the wall you actually have. If that is your space, the Kozy Heat Osseo E-Series linear sets up front-facing, as a left or right corner, or as a panoramic bay. Treat the heat as supplemental warmth for one room. Electric is the better accent, gas the better heater, and this one is honest about which it is.
What Makes It Special
One fireplace, four layouts: front-facing, left corner, right corner, or a three-sided panoramic bay, so the fire can wrap a corner or float in a room divider.
Smoked glass crystals sit over a reflective glass firebox liner with downlighting and an ember-bed light. Three lengths, up to nearly 79 inches, let the fire run the width of a media wall.
White or gray floating mantel kits are available for the two shorter models, and the remote handles the heater, thermostat, and timer.
Possible Downsides
- All three sizes share the same heater, so the longer models add fire, not warmth.
- It is supplemental heat for one room, not a primary heat source.
- The floating mantel kits are offered for the E50 and E64 only, not the E80.
If you want a long modern fire on a corner or a room divider, the Osseo E-Series linear is the right decision. The awkward corner becomes the best seat in the room.
Choose the E50, E64, or E80; a white or gray floating mantel kit (E50 and E64); a rectangle surround or four-piece exterior trim; and a traditional or birch log set.

Frequently Asked Questions
What ways can the Kozy Heat Osseo E-Series Linear Electric Fireplace be installed?
It can hang on a wall from the bracket that comes with it, or go into a framed wall in one of three layouts. Recessed single-sided keeps both side block-off plates in place, a left or right corner removes one plate to show that side's glass, and a three-sided bay removes both. For a wall hang, the bracket has to be screwed into wood framing—the manual says it can't be held with drywall anchors.
How much heat does the Osseo E-Series Linear put out?
It's supplemental heat for one room, and Kozy Heat's figure is up to about 500 sq ft. The E50, E64, and E80 all use the same 750/1,500-watt heater, rated at 5,000 BTU, so the longer models give you more flame, not more heat. The manual says it isn't intended to be a primary heat source.
Does the Osseo E-Series Linear plug in, or does it have to be hardwired?
That depends on the install. Wall-mounted, it plugs in, and the manual recommends putting the outlet directly under the unit; recessed into a framed wall, it has to be hardwired with Kozy Heat's electrical hardwire kit, which can't be used with the floating mantel kit. The manual calls that kit 'provided' but doesn't list it in the box contents, so confirm it with your dealer. It's rated at 120 volts and 1,500 watts on a dedicated 15-amp (or larger) breaker, never on an extension cord or power strip, and with no battery backup it won't run during an outage.
What size framed opening does the Osseo E-Series Linear need?
Every size needs an opening 24-1/2 inches tall and 12-1/4 inches deep. For a single-sided or corner install, frame it 49-3/4 inches wide for the E50, 63-1/2 for the E64, or 79-1/4 for the E80; a three-sided bay opening is 49-1/4, 63, or 78-3/4 inches wide. Clearances to combustibles are 0 inches on every side, top, back, and bottom. The units weigh 133, 156, and 212 pounds.
Can I put a mantel or TV above the Osseo E-Series Linear?
A 12-inch combustible mantel can start right at the top finishing edge (0 inches), but the wall bump-out, finishing material, and mantel together can't project more than 12 inches. A hearth can run right up to the bottom finishing edge. The manual tells you to consider TV or artwork placement when picking a wall-mount spot but gives no TV clearance figure. Keep furniture and drapes 36 inches from the glass.
Does the Osseo E-Series Linear have a thermostat?
Yes—the included remote is thermostatic. You set a room temperature and the heater cycles on and off to hold it; the manual's example is a 70°F setting that starts the heater when the room drops to 66°F. Keep the remote in the same room, screen up, and away from the fireplace or a sunny window. The brochure also lists a timer from 30 minutes to 8 hours.
Can I run the flames without heat on the Osseo E-Series Linear?
Yes. The heater button steps through half power, full power, and off, and the flame effect and lighting run with the heater off. The flame has four color settings and five brightness levels, the downlight has seven colors, and the ember bed has thirteen, plus pulsing ember LEDs. A wood-crackling sound has low, medium, high, and mute settings.
What mantel, trim, and log options are there for the Osseo E-Series Linear?
White or gray floating mantel kits fit the E50 and E64 when the unit is wall-mounted; there isn't one for the E80. In a framed wall, the built-in finishing trim covers finishing material up to 1/2 inch thick, and the optional one-piece rectangle surround and four-piece trim both work only on single-sided installs (the four-piece trim suits smooth walls and very thin materials). Smoked crushed glass comes with it, and traditional or birch log sets are optional.
Can the Osseo E-Series Linear go in a manufactured home, and what upkeep does it need?
Yes—the manual says it meets HUD construction and safety standards for manufactured homes when it's installed according to its instructions. With the power switched off, vacuum or wipe dust and pet hair from the air inlet and heater area regularly, and clean the glass with glass cleaner sprayed onto a cloth; the manual recommends two people to remove the glass on the E64 and E80. Parts are covered for two years and labor reimbursement for one, and the warranty doesn't cover use outdoors, on porches, or in other damp places.
